ICNS MAKER — START HERE
=======================

FASTEST OPTION (NO INSTALLATION)

1. Double-click “ICNS-Maker.html”.
2. Drop in a PNG. 1254 × 1254 is ideal, but other sizes work too.
3. Choose Fit or Fill, then click “Create ICNS”.

That HTML file is the complete app. It works offline, needs no server, and
does not upload your images anywhere.

SOURCE / DEVELOPER OPTION (MAC)

1. Install Node.js 20.9 or newer if it is not already installed.
2. Double-click “Start ICNS Maker.command”.
3. On the first run, the launcher installs the exact dependencies from
package-lock.json, builds the app, starts it locally, and opens the browser.

If macOS blocks the launcher because it came from a download, right-click it,
choose Open, and confirm once. You can also use the manual commands below.

MANUAL START

Open Terminal in the source folder and run:

  npm ci
  npm run build
  npm run start

Then open http://127.0.0.1:3000/ in your browser.

REBUILD THE SINGLE-FILE DOWNLOAD

  npm run build:download

The generated file appears at dist-download/ICNS-Maker.html.

SYSTEM NOTES

- macOS 11 or newer is recommended for the generated modern ICNS files.
- A 1254 × 1254 source gives the app plenty of detail for the 1024px output.
- Smaller, larger, and non-square PNGs are supported.
- All image processing happens in your browser.
